I'll be honest...I love cookies.
Especially chocolate chip cookies and a glass of cold milk. Combine that with
a nap and there are few other things in this world that come close (milkshake
with whip cream and a cherry is a close second).
In all my years of eating cookies, I've come to the conclusion that the best cookies
are those made from scratch. Some recipe passed down from Grandma or Aunt Mary,
with a special ingredient, mixed and rolled by hand (my mouth is now officially watering).
Now, don't get me wrong, cookie cutter cookies are tasty...IT'S A COOKIE!
But side by side they just don't compare. You put those two cookies in front of me
and give me the choice, I'll pick homemade every time (and twice on Sunday).
Design, to me, is much the same. Sure, a cookie cutter design can look slick, professional,
fancy, designer-y...but is genuine? Is it honest, true, original, sincere, one of a kind?
When you look at it do you feel like you crafted it in your kitchen from a special recipe?
Does it make you say, "Hey, those seem like great folks. I want to get to know them."
If you find yourself with the unfortunate realization that your cookies came from the cutter...
Fear Not. You can always get back in the kitchen.
No recipe? No Problem.
Add a little bit of this, a little bit of that. It'll get there.
Last batch was kinda funky, make another one.
I know things will get messy, it'll take time, there's clean up afterwards. Trust me.
When you get a whiff of what's cookin', you pull them out of the oven, cool 'em off,
have that first bite...
From scratch. Definately, from scratch.
